The Floating Woven Cross
The Floating Woven Cross
Hand-crafted using exotic hardwoods imported from West Africa, this cross gives the illusion of floating in mid-air. The cross, which is the focus of this creation, was designed using zebrawood at its center because of its stripes which represent the wounds that our Lord received before His crucifixion. The basswood chosen for its light color and stark contrast to the darker zebrawood represent the purity of Christ as the spotless Lamb of God.
The arch and the base were formed with sapele because of its reddish-brown color, representative of the blood that our Lord shed, and because of its natural ability to resist decay, much like our risen Lord defeated death and the grave. Also, it's amazing grain patterns seems to reflect light in a way that is truly remarkable and beautiful to behold.
The arch was fashioned to resemble ancient doorways. Partly, a reference to Revelation 3:20 where Jesus stands at the door and knocks. But, most notably the arch represents the Eastern Gate of Jerusalem, which faces the Mount of Olives from which Jesus ascended into heaven, and to which He is prophesized to return.
This Floating Woven Cross would be a wonderful addition to any home as a stunning conversation piece, but hopefully even a powerful witnessing tool. May it bless your home as it has blessed ours.
A great deal of thought and reflection went into the design of this cross. Even the words engraved on the base is a result of the recognition that the same God who spoke the universe into existence, suffered and died on this cross to demonstrate
How Great is the Love of God
